Central Virginia Rainbow Partnership

Representing local LGBT organizations, about 25 people gathered recently to discuss the future of the Central Virginia Rainbow Partnership. Organized several years ago to help keep our community connected and unified, the group had almost dissolved, but, enthusiasm was certainly the mood of the this meeting as ideas were discussed about what roles the organization could play.

Facilitated by Allison Conyers of the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities, the two-hour meeting was productive in several ways. Committees were formed to address issues such as researching the possibility of creating a LGBT community liaison with the Richmond City Police Department, addressing the on-going increase in HIV rates and researching ways to better connect our community to local governments.
