A Caring Response: Aging, HIV and LGBT Older Adults

A free seminar for all healthcare professionals, direct and indirect service providers and caregivers who work with LGBT older adults

Learning Objectives:

  • An overall increase in awareness, cultural competence, and sensitivity toward the aging LGBT population with special attention to issues related to HIV and aging.
  • Ability to recognize and define symbols and terms unique to LGBT culture.

Molly Rae and Jeremiah Clark to Perform at GCCR

MCC Richmond welcomes Molly Rae and Jeremiah Clark, two singer/songwriters from Pittsburgh to the Gay Community Center of Richmond on Saturday, August 13 at 8 pm. These two singer/songwriters are just starting to catch the attention of the music world. “Writing for OUR Lives” Writing Workshop

Do you have a story to tell or words of wisdom to share? Save the date for our upcoming writing workshop, “Writing for OUR Lives” and get help putting your thoughts on paper or pixels. This six week seminar will be held on Wednesday nights from July 27 – August 31 from 7 pm – 9 pm.

This seminar will progress through readings of important LGBT figures of the 20th century in multiple genres (short stories, poetry, & essays) to an exploration of how the pages of our own lives might be written into the evolving (con)textual record of this diverse community. Read More…

ROBIN Discussion Group Flying from the Nest!

ROBIN is flying from the nest! This month ROBIN will hold it’s Discussion Group in a new venue at a new time. Hopefully some of you will be able to join us for the “last Wednesday of the month” discussion group. The topic for this month’s meeting will be: How Do You Define “Bisexual”? How do you define yourself — bisexual, polyamorous, pansexual, curious, questioning, omnisexual, straight-but-adventurous, gay-but-open-minded? What’s in a label? Are labels helpful or harmful? Are we beyond labels in the 21st century?
